Gifts by Budget

A thoughtful gift doesn't need to be expensive. Setting a budget before you shop makes decisions easier and helps avoid overspending.

We keep a small number of budget guides, each built for a different situation: under $25 for coworkers, classmates and small occasions, under $50 for friends and family, and under $100 for partners, close family and milestones. Each explains what makes a good gift at that level, not just what to buy.

Budgets are typical ranges for each kind of gift, not prices. Actual costs vary, so always check before you buy.

Very small and very large budgets

Gifts under $10

Under $10, focus on small pleasures and personal touches. A really good small item — or a heartfelt note — is better than a cheap version of something bigger.

Gifts over $100

Bigger gifts are usually reserved for partners, close family or group gifts. Make sure a big-ticket item is something they actually want — ask, check a wish list or go with an experience.

Frequently asked questions

Why doesn't GiftNook show exact prices?

Prices change frequently and vary between sellers. Rather than show numbers that may be out of date, we group gifts into typical price ranges. Always check the current price before buying.

Why aren't there pages for every price point?

Guides for $15, $20 and $30 would repeat each other. We keep a few budget guides that each solve a different problem, and explain how to adapt them to your exact budget.
